The Society for Kona’s Education and Art hosts a youth pottery program, “Fun, Form, and Function,” for students ages 10 and up this June in Honaunau.
The program will run 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 2 and 3, with a glazing session to be held on a date not-yet-determined. Instructor Alysia Samaru will teach the techniques of slab, coiled pots and surfaces.
Tuition is $60 and includes all supplies and firings. Register by May 27 for a $10 discounts. Scholarships are available.
The youth pottery program is sponsored by the Atherton Foundation and by the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts, through appropriations from the state Legislature, and by the National Endowment for the Arts.
